Two of my best and long-time home town friends got married this weekend. A few weeks back the bride told me that their wedding song would be Fake Empire by The National. When I saw the band at the Michelberger Hotel festival recently, I asked them if they’d be cool with dedicating the song to my friends, which they were.
This is the first page of a notebook that I circulated on wedding day to have all friends dedicate a song to Alissia & Fabian. What a day. View high resolution

The National, who are friends with the owners of the Michelberger Hotel in Berlin, played an intimate/secret show last night in the courtyard of the hotel, before handing over the stage to Aloe Blacc.
It was quite magical.

The National | Clampdown (The Clash cover)

Gabe gets my cover Friday reblog.

    gcn:

The National - Clampdown (Orig. by the Clash)

A sedate version of an otherwise aggressive and fast paced song… Happy cover Friday!

    The National | Fake Empire

If I’d ever need a soundtrack for my past three years, it’d have to be Fake Empire. A loyal companion to countless occasions.

    The National - Bloodbuzz Ohio

I reblogged Jen & Bijan’s post with the radio rip before and it looks like the band now has the song up for grabs on their website in high quality.

Have had this song on replay all morning. The weather today in Berlin is majestic. So is this song.

Insta-reblog for The National. Easily one of my favorite bands of the recent years. I *never* get tired of them.

    The National - Mr. November

Oh my, I love this song so much. It’s been a long time since I witnessed such a brilliant mixture of beauty and anger in one and the same song.

This song is in my all time Top 3 “Last songs on a record” list. And the best part: The next song in my iTunes is Fake Empire, the first song of Boxer which happens to be my favorite song of their latest record.

I am a fan. I most definitely am a fan.
