Ólafur Arnalds | Lag Fyrir Ömmu

Icelandic contemporary composer Ólafur Arnalds created and released a new song, one per day for one whole week during the month of October 2011.

The songs were recorded and filmed live in the living room of his Reykjavik apartment and released instantly as free videos and downloads.

Sonic Island looks stunning. If you’re into Iceland, music and photography, you gotta check it out. Start with Chapter 1.

    FM Belfast | Underwear

“We’re running down the streets in our underwear.“

Feeling a bit electronic today so here you go. Oh and by the way, these guys are from Iceland.

Thanks to Dean for pointing me to FM Belfast this morning.

Sigur Rós - Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur

This song is perfect for a Monday. If you haven’t seen their DVD ‘Heima’ yet, go find it and watch it. It is amazing.

I love this band. And need to visit Iceland. Badly.

Watch It: Sigur Ros - Heima DVD

Below is the trailer of the tour documentary Heima (click for high res trailer) from Sigur Ros. The movie covers a series of surprise shows after coming back home to Iceland following a year-long world tour. The shows are set in different places ranging from a small community house in the middle of nowhere to an abandoned fish factory.

I got the DVD as a gift from a friend and have watched it several times. It really is amazing. Such nice pictures of a great spot on earth. Energy-filled songs and live-sets. Great vibe and smiling faces during every show. Plus: you’ll get to see the highest amount of wool sweaters ever seen in a movie.

    Highly recommended.
