The Weakerthans on Sly-Fi: Winnipeg Winners
I missed their latest tour in Germany. I was bummed. I had the chance to tourmanage everyone’s favorite Winnipegians on their tour in 2003 I think it was. It was one of the best tours I had the chance to do. Super nice guys, had a blast with Stephen and Cam, had John K as my co-pilot with a sharp eye on the road. We spent the best day-off ever in Zurich, rented a boat and got sun-burned on...

Feb 28th: Stage6 Dies - Long Live hobnox.com →
That’s sad. No Lost, no Prison Break, no movies anymore. I loved it. Joox.net will most likely die as well. February 28th will mark the end of a great site with super high quality online video. The same day, hobnox.com will go live. Sic.

Da-Tah: Free Mashup Scissor Sisters Download
Great free Scissor Sisters mashup album. Click here for the download. Particulary like the “I Don’t Feel Like Losing” song: Beck’s “Loser” vs. “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing” and “Mama’s Sister”.   via

ImprovEverywhere: Frozen Berlin Alexa Shopping...
I posted about ImprovEverywhere a couple of weeks ago: a flashmob meeting at NYC’s Grand Central Station to just freeze for five minutes. Last Friday, the guys from ImprovEverywhere were in Berlin and our lovely Str33t.org host Juli got the chance to catch it all with her camera. Same concept as in NYC but this time in Berlin’s shopping center “Alexa” right at the famous...

Studio Report on Sly-Fi.com: My Good Friends The...
Check the video below for a studio report of my good friends the Donots from a german town with a funny german name: Ibbenbüren. They´ve been around forever, had some very successful records in Germany and Europe, played their asses off for most of the years. They took some time off lately to reinvent themselves and I am looking forward to listening to their new record. Haven´t heard it yet but I...

Guy Kawasaki: Panel Discussion About Angel Capital
I like Guy. When we started Hobnox, I read his book “The Art Of The Start” that helped me understand a lot of things about starting a company. He has this great way to explain complex things in a funny and comprehensive way. On his blog, you´ll also find links to videos of speeches and keyontes he did. Below is the most recent video in which he moderates a panel discussion about angel...

Disqus.com: Comments For My Blog / Outstanding...
Wow. That´s what I call great support service. But let´s start with the start: Remember me arguing about Tumblr not offering comments? I follow and read Bijan´s tumblelog (his company Spark Capital from Boston is an investor for Tumblr) and noticed that he has a comment funcionality labeled “Disqus”. I checked the site, signed-up and found that they feature easy-to-use instructions to...

iAno - Virtual Piano For Your iPod/iPhone
Found this on Uwe´s blog: iAno is a little app that let´s you play piano on your iPod Touch and iPhone. That is really cool. Bummer that I just bought an iPod Classic instead of the Touch, would have been great to practice again since I moved out from home ages ago where we have a piano. Uwe has this habit of finding fun stuff out there on the webbernet, wondering what his sources are. Uwe? Oh...

Hobnox, the company I co-founded now has its own blog. It´s been about time you might say. Well yeah. Click for the german and english version. So far we´ve posted some highlights of our three channels Sly-Fi, 99stories and Str33t produced by our own editorial team. As the rating phase of the Hobnox Evolution contest ended last week (click here to check out the nominees), you´ll also find some of...

It lets you create playlists and widgets as well as uploads of own MP3´s. Let´s you discover great new bands and it´s a nice alternative to your iTunes library while you´re working. Thanks frenchies, well done.

ReRediscovered: The Fashion - Video
In reference to yesterday´s post about The Fashion: Have constantly been listening to their songs last night and today. I´m also trying to convince our Head of Editorial Uwe to go visit the band on Feb 22nd at Magnet in Berlin to do an interview and to show both the videos on our channel Sly-Fi.com. Let´s see what he says. Their current release is self-titled, support the guys and buy it in the...

Rediscovered: The Fashion from Denmark
About 10 years ago I used to set up Punk/Hardcore shows in my hometown Eupen. There wasn’t really a strategy for what bands I’d get to play. I just picked a band that was touring and somehow put a show around it with other bands that where around. Sometimes touring bands would hear of the show and send me CDs or even 7” records and I’d eventually decide if I like them...

BlogMeSite: The Next Big Widget?
Thomas pointed that out on his Facebook profile: Blogmesite.com is a product of a french company called Ibernatus that (among other things) creates widgets for entertainment clients (record companies, bands, etc.) that are super easy to reblog or repost in your social network profile (MySpace, Facebook, Friendster). Just get the code and embed within your blog/site/profile. Really cool. Ibernatus...

Spinner.com is a great music site. Made discovering new bands/music enjoyable again. Affiliated to AOL, but thats ok because they do a great job. A free MP3 every day, a daily video of an upcoming band and some other categories with great names (“I freaking love this song”, “Worst rock jobs” among others).  Here´s todays´s Video of the Day: Jack Penate - Spit At Cars

Hobnox Evolution: 23 hours to go
Only 23 hours to go until rating ends on hobnox.com. Looks good for the leaders so far, it´s going to be a busy last day before we finally know who gets invited to Berlin on Feb 28th to get a chance to win €25K in artist support. May the best win. Or the one with the most friends/fans. Reminds me of a quote that Thees Uhlmann, singer of german indie fame Tomte who once said: “If you have...

Why does Tumblr has no comment functionality?
This really sucks. I mean come on. That´s standard. I had a reason to leave Vox behind with no looking back (account needed for comment posting). Realised that Tumblr has no comment functionality just recently. Get this done. Please.  Or is there any plausible reason. Leave a comment with your opinion. Oh wait. Duh.

Check out Jake Brennan, my colleague from Hobnox...
Jake Brennan is part of the Hobnox Boston editorial team and has a daily show on boston.com. The concept? Simple: Boston.com is proud to present “Pop-Ed,” a daily original song and accompanying video written and performed by local musician Jake Brennan, focusing on news and events that take place that day. Jake will find news of interest in the morning and then start writing. Later in...
